This calculator helps with every day wet lab concentration calculations.
To do the calculation, the molecular weight (MwT) is needed and depending on whether you are dealing
with a liquid chemical, also the density.
Based on the sum formula, the calculator provides you the theoretical molecular weight in g/mol.
However, in reality many chemicals can have a different molecular weight due to water
absorption!
We have provided you a list of popular chemicals with their corresponding molecular weight and
density under standard conditions.
Always inform yourself about the experimental conditions and the chemicals you are using!
Input:
MwT: Molecular weight in g/mol (theoretical value can differ from reality!)
Density: in g/mL (depends on experimental conditions!)
Stock Concentration: Many chemicals such as HCl have a stock concentration of 37%. If you are
not dealing with a liquid chemical, the concentration can be filled in as 100%.
Wanted Volume: Your desired volume in mL.
Wanted Concentration: Your desired concentration in mol/L.
Formula:
Mass of chemical to weigh:
m = Concentration * V(solvent) * MwT
Amount of volume to add to solvent
V(chemical) = m/Density
